Whose story am I telling?

Recently I was reading the book “Life Lessons for Mastering the Law of Attraction”. It is by the creators of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Each chapter starts with a story about someone who has a manifesting success story or transformative life experience, told in their own words.

The story at the beginning for chapter 4 is titled ‘Goofing Off to Get Ahead”. It starts like this… “Four months into a new job as a 401(k) sales rep for a large national bank, management announced that if we didn’t turn things around soon, all of us would be out of jobs”. As soon as I read that one sentence I thought to myself, ‘that’s Jeannette!’ I immediately flipped to the end of the story to confirm what I already new; the story was written by Jeannette Maw. I have read Jeannette’s Good Vibe blog for years. I am a member of her Good Vibe University and part of her Coaches League. She recently started a podcast and I am a devoted listener. She is one of my favorite law of attraction teachers.

Jeannette has written about this story on her blog, in some of her e-books and I am pretty sure she has told it at least once on her podcast. Even though I have only heard it a few times I can tell you the story. The short version is management told them they would be out of jobs. She decided to try pray rain journaling. She gets the tiniest notebook she can find. She writes a page about how prospective clients find her and how her product is exactly what they need. The she leaves the office to have lunch, something she hasn't done in months. She sits of the patio of a great restaurant and enjoys herself. When she goes back to the office a man on the elevator introduces himself and it turns out he has been looking to implement a 401k plan for his employees.

It is one of those stories that reminds me of how fast the universe can work and how everything is possible. The story raises my vibration and I feel like I can manifest anything! It makes me so happy that it feels like it is my story, even though its not!

This bring up the question, ‘whose story am I telling?’ I can tell that story like it's my own, even though it never happened to me personally. I can feel the energy and power of the story. I am sure if I were to tell it to someone in person I would radiate the same enthusiastic energy.

All day, every day, every thought we think is telling a story. Either we are telling ourselves a story of something that has happened in the past or of something that we think is going to happen in the future.

When you tell a story about something from your past, are you telling the story of someone who was a victim? Are you telling the story of someone who learned a valuable lesson? Are you telling the story of someone who had transformative life experience? Are you telling the story of someone not only survived, but thrived?

This can be even more powerful when it comes to your story about something you’re manifesting in the future. Are you telling the story of someone who hopes that it will manifest? Are you telling the story of someone that wants it to manifest in a very specific way? Are you telling the story of someone who trusts the universe and knows that success is inevitable? Are you telling the story of someone who is already living the full manifestation of their dreams?

Sometimes the story we are telling ourselves might not even be our own. Weather it is something that happened in the past, something we believe about ourselves, or something that we think is possible in the future, the version we are telling might be based on other people's opinions or ideas. We have just heard it so many times that we have made it part of our story.

Whose story am I telling? Ask yourself this question, then decide if you want to tell a new story!

Just Do It

Just do it! This phrase is most famous for being a Nike slogan. Of course they would use it because it is a powerful statement and a more powerful action.

Dream big. Believe it. Visualize it. Feel what it is going to be like when you achieve your dream… these are all things we are encouraged to do. I regularly encourage clients and students to this. Its true, many of us don’t dream big enough. We limit ourselves and what we think is possible. While we there are infinite possibilities and we can should believe in them all, we also have to take action.

Dream big and then… just do it!

Often we dream of one day pursuing our dream. Instead of some day, one day, when I… just do it!

Take the first step. If you don’t know what to do, Google it! Search for…’ what is first step too...’, or ‘how do I start…’ , ‘who should I contact in order to…’, ‘where can I find more information on…’. Watch a YouTube video. Read a book or blog. Hire a coach. Just do it!

There is someone out there that has achieved what you dream. Learn from them and be guided on your next steps. Just do it! If by chance what you dream has never been done before, then whatever you step you take is the perfect first step! Just do it!

Here is a link to a speech by Art Williams that I love! I’ve listened to it many times and it always makes me laugh and motivates me!

Karen Drucker (one of my favorite artists) has a song called Just Do It!  Listen to it and then do it!

Just do it! Catch your dreams!

Morning Routines - to catch your dreams!

Health, fitness, personal development and spirituality are all high priorities in my life. They are truly my passions! Which you would probably expect being that I am a life coach and fitness professional!

The last year and a half has been a season of lots of change. I bought my first home and started teaching group fitness classes for the first time. I was adjusting to being a new home owner, living alone, and learning and growing as an instructor. Now that I feel comfortable and confident in both areas I am ready to take on some new dreams!

I was feeling guided to create some daily practices. I realized I had been neglecting some of my manifesting and spiritual practices. The Miracle Morning had been on my list of books to read, so I decide now was a perfect time. I loved it! Hal Elrod has a great writing style and the books is easy to read, fun and motivational. He uses the acronym SAVERS, which stands for silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading and scribing (his word for journaling.)

I love each of these activities and can say with certainty they are transformational tools. I highly recommend the book. However, in my opinion the most important thing is doing things for your mind, body and spirit, every morning! Not necessarily these specific things.

Since I started reading the book, over the last week and half ago, I have been created a morning routine for myself that I have done everyday.  (I will share in more detail in a future blog – stay tuned!) I am calling this my Dreamcatcher Morning!

  • As soon as I get out of bed I stand, stretch, and give thanks for this new day and new opportunity. (I’ve been playing with my own variation of an open your angel wings visualization/stretch from Kyle Gray in his book Angel Prayers and finishing by standing in super hero pose – more on this in the future blog!)
  • I make my bed
  • I drink water
  • Then I have been going straight to my backyard patio for the rest of my morning practice (The weather is beautiful now in Phoenix. I will find a different spot when as the weather changes)
  •  I do some breathing work (Again, I will share specifics in a future blog)
  • Affirmations - I recently wrote my own short daily prayer/affirmation. I also wrote another morning mediation for multi-author book which will be released later this year. I say those to myself along with my Dreamcatcher Manifesto (which is on the main page of my site). Sometimes I say them to myself silently or say them aloud. Then I read my affirmations that I have written specific to my current goals. As I am saying them I take time to visualize my goals as done and bask in the feelings.
  • I take a few breaths in silence. Then I think of several things that I am grateful for. Then I say a prayer from A Course In Miracles – What would You have me do? Where would You have me go? What would You have me say, and to whom?

I plan to keep all these as part of my morning. Since I started my consistent morning routine I have also been taking time to read a new book each day as well. I read The Miracle Morning in just a few days and I am already half way through a second book, in less than two weeks! A few days I have also read from A Course in Miracles or devotionals/passages from Marianne Williamson’s A Year of Miracles or Doreen Virtue’s Daily Guidance from Your Angels. Reading might not always be part of every morning, but for now, it is!

There are many ways to incorporate time for these types of activities during your day but what is most important is adding some of these things to your morning, as a start to your day. Making time for your mind, body and spirit in the morning will lead to amazing transformations, in all areas for your life.

You can try any or all of these things. You can make your morning practice just a few minutes, or you can devote an hour a day to it. You can combine many of these practices. You can mentally say affirmations as you take a few deep breaths. I am also going to be incorporating some yoga sun salutations into my morning routine. Sun salutations combine stretching and strength movements with breathing. A few sun sals and thinking of three thing you are grateful for can be your morning routine!

Pick one or two things, practice them each morning and be consistent! You are worth it! The most important thing you need to achieve any goal or dream, is YOU! The happier and healthier you are, the more you will achieve! Your morning routine will help you catch your dreams!
